Mega-Tek

Okay, yet again, I have fallen for another product from my fellow LHCF PJ's. After reading post after post about it, I searched for places that carried it. I went to a garden center and found it! Yes, this is yet another product that was (apparently) created for humans, then marketed for animals. Yikes. But, it smells pretty darn good. Much better than that funky MTG i used a few years back.

So, I am hearing that many people mix their Mega-Tek, and many people use it raw. It's creamy and white, so I hear that people are getting lots of flakes. Flakes are NOT what's up. I am going to use it on my scalp overnight, and then wash out in the morning. I'm trying to rock twists and twist outs for most of the Spring/Summer. Eh, we will see how it goes!

Can you see the stains from the semi-perm color on my forehead?! I'm so pissed!!!

To avoid hair dye stains, put a thin layer of vaseline or another petroleum jelly product around your hairline, over your ears and on your forehead. Then rinse off with a regular cleanser when your hair's all done. No stains guaranteed.

I noticed that you tried boundless tresses a while back, how did that work out for you?

Btw, your hair is on the grow.

I've considered trying this, but then chickened out because I make all of my hair products from scratch, except occasionally doing a co-wash with Burt's Bees Raspberry Conditioner. I'm really paranoid about what's in products. But I'd love to hear your experience with it after several months. I may have to make an exception if this stuff is amazing.

Careful with that stuff. It works well because it has so much protein, but that can also contribute to shedding and cause breakage (which seems to be happening to you already because of that semi-permanent color you used). Be sure that once you establish a routine that you wash it out and follow up with a NON-protein conditioner. Why? Well, you don't want to overload your hair. Too much of a good thing will not only make your hair dry, but eventually brittle and hard. That's why so many ladies mix it with oil. Some are also taking garlic pills. Are you still doing your Aphogee treatments while you use this? Don't take my word for it though, look it up, ask some stylists and see what professionals (beauty scientists) have to say about keratin and other protein-based hair products.

In any case, good luck. People have gotten some amazing results with Megatek and were not only able to grow their hair, but to maintain a lot of length and thickness.

I use mega-tek and love it (fellow LHCF member who was convinced to buy it from other PJs). When I apply it to my (relaxed) hair, I leave it on for a couple of minutes and then follow it up with KeraCare Dry & Itchy Scalp conditioner. My hair feels like butter afterwards! I think I've found a really good balance between Mega-Tek and KeraCare for my hair. I then do a rollerset and it turns out well every time.

I haven't had problems with flakes, but I make sure to rinse it out really well.

Can't wait to see how this experiment turns out! :)

I have been using Mega Tek Cell Rebuilder for a year now and I love it. I haven't had any problems yet. I use it as a leave in conditioner. I stopped getting my hair permed and it has returned to it's naturally curly state. It was really a trial and error process, I had to figure out what worked best for me. Depending on your the hair texture leave in my not be the best way to go because it does produce waves. It's great if you want to go natural or do a roller set. My hair has become super thick and is down my back again. I just started to use the shampoo and I love that too. I did mix some for my co-worker with Wild Grow and another hair oil so that she could use it as an oil or hairdress. Her edges are already growing back.

I've been using MT for 1 month/3weeks/2 days and my hair has grown 1 1/2".That's a lot for me since my hair generally grows approx 1/8" per month. I'm not sure if MT actually grows the hair but I do believe that it helps with retention. I use approx a nickel size amount to my scalp (to avoid overload) every night, massage for about 5 minutes and I do NOT wash out in the morning. I only wash my hair once/week and I blow-dry my hair. For the first 3 days my hair shedded like crazy and now it sheds little to none at all!! I don't use garlic pills and I'm going to start applying MT to my hair right after I wash it to strengthen it before I blow-dry or flat iron it. My hair loves protein!! My hair also feels VERY soft and doesn't look as dry as it used to. It's not very shiny, but at least it doesn't look like straw anymore. Good luck everyone!!

* Post menopausal women. The Atrix is a phone, probably the most powerful phone here. It is also a multimedia device and when twinned with a Lapdock is in fact also a computer. A driver's license, good physical stamina and a training certificate in driving/operating forklifts are a must though.
