Do I Really Want to Lock???

Okay, I can't lie, I'm having second thoughts. Within the past 2 months, I've spent over $100 stocking up on my favorite hair products, moisturizers, oils, conditioners and things of the like. And then, I started looking over my pictures, various fotki's that I have saved, loctician's prices. I'm having second thoughts!!! So, I'm thinking that I may just wait it out a bit, use up my products, do tons more research, and then set the date. My hair has been growing pretty well, and I'd kind of like to see what more I can do with it. Oh well, I haven't used conditioner in my hair since the week before I decided to lock. I cannot WAIT to deep condition!!!

I swear, I hate being so indecisive.

if you're not ready, take it one day at a time.
I also have many products and I had to give away most of my qhemet since they were too heavy except for the oils and the cocoa detangler ghee.
other than that, I still use my oils, i've been using conditioner since day 2 so all you need to do is make sure you rinse them out well...

you don't have to go to a loctician if you don't want to. I am not planning to go to one since i've been doing it by myself since day 1...
let us know what you decide :)

Take your time with it! Do it when you're ready! And when you're ready, you will know.

I must echo the sista above and say that you don't have to go to a loctician. You can do your own twostrand twists or coils and maintain yourself. It's surprisingly easy to do.

Good luck!

I agree - take your time. I gave myself the hair goal of being able to wear my own hair twisted in a real 'hangin' and swingin' ponytail and I want to be able to wear a giant puff before I loc that way I have a few more years of trying out different lose styles and various products.

But for now when I get that 'loc itch' I just wear box braids and twists until they are mad frizzy before taking them out :o)

Just started locing myself after going back and forth for a year.
One of the things that finally made me take the plunge was finding out that people have successfully taken down their locs. Once I realized that there were other options to removing locs beside the big chop, I was cool. It's been a month and half and so far so good.
